Latest update from Blue Hickey

Hi to every one out there, I am sorry for the brevity of my update, but as most of you know I am a man of a few words.
Glen, to keep me out of trouble this time I thought I would get a head of you with the up date, I have been on the go with appointments here there and every where lately and tomorrow, Friday 6 August, is my last radiation treatment on the cancer that recently decided to move into my pelvis.
Next week is the start of a new era for me, as on Monday I have to go into Greenslopes for educational lectures on cancer.
On Thursday morning I start on a new treatment, not chemo but you may have heard or read about a system called, ‘ KEYTRUDA”.
With what I have been told, and from what I have read, this is my understanding of the new treatment;

What it does is work with your immune system to help fight Melanomas.
I previously may have mentioned that I had a melanoma on my head that was unable to be treated by chemotherapy as It didn’t have a “T” cell in it.
From what I can understand, normally a cancer cell can change its identity, so it can change to say, a bone cell, so the immune system can’t identify it so it goes merrily on its way into the bone.
But with KEYTRUDA it finds the disguised cancer cells and opens them so your immune system can identify them start destroying them.

Note from your friendly editor;

We (Dongers, Patsy and I) called round a week or two back and although Blue is now on a walking stick (He says it makes him look more distinguished) both he and Helen were looking pretty bright and in good spirits.
Sounds like you have uploaded a “Norton anti virus programme” or something similar Blue. Lets all hope that this is as successful as it sounds it could be.

Anyway mate all the best with treatment and I will wait for your next report …Just remember Norton has been around for a long time and it was very successful.. Bob Jones
